Welcome to Cousens Psychotherapy & Counselling
Hello, I’m Bea, a registered Psychotherapist & Counsellor. With over 25 years of experience supporting people, I would love to welcome you to CPC.
This is a calm, supportive space where your story is met with respect and your wellbeing is held with care.
I work with people from all walks of life, with a particular focus on women, teen girls, couples and families. My approach is trauma‑informed, neurodiversity‑affirming and LGBTQIA+ inclusive, offering a safe and steady place to explore whatever you’re carrying.
I support people navigating:
• anxiety, overwhelm and stress
• identity, self‑esteem and relationships
• motherhood, parenting and life transitions
• trauma, including domestic & family violence and sexual assault
• institutional and systemic abuse, including religious trauma
• pregnancy options, reproductive decisions and loss
• performance anxiety for musicians and performers
You don’t need to have everything figured out to come to therapy.
We can work through things gently, together, at your pace.

About Bea
I’m Bea Cousens, a registered Psychotherapist and Counsellor with over 25 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families through life’s most complex emotional, relational, and safety‑related challenges. My work is grounded in warmth, deep listening, and a trauma‑informed, person‑centred approach that honours each person’s lived experience.
I hold a Graduate Diploma of Counselling and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Sociology, and Gender Studies, and I am registered with the Australian Counselling Association. Across my career, I’ve supported people through anxiety, overwhelm, identity and relationship challenges, motherhood and parenting transitions, trauma, domestic and family violence, sexual assault, institutional and religious trauma, chronic illness, and complex family dynamics. I am also a professional singer and have run my own singing school for 29 years.
My practice is neurodiversity‑affirming and LGBTQIA+ inclusive. I have extensive experience supporting neurodiverse individuals and families, including those living with ADHD and Autism, and I integrate evidence‑based approaches such as CBT, ACT, mindfulness, creative therapies, and strengths‑based practice.
I’ve worked across private practice, domestic violence services, behaviour therapy, crisis intervention, and multidisciplinary teams. This breadth of experience allows me to offer flexible, accessible support.
At the heart of my work is a simple belief: you don’t need to have everything figured out to begin. Together, we move at your pace, building clarity, confidence, and connection so you can move toward a life that feels safer, steadier, and more aligned with who you are.
